TAXtalk October
2007
Week 4
This Week in TAXtalk
Dear Subscriber,
This is terrible, I keep writing and reminding you about the tax returns deadline at the end of this month, but I keep putting
it off!! I have put reminders on my cell phone, stickers on my computer and even gone as far as writing a note on my hand in ink! Now please let's not forget to do this. I know we are all busy and get caught up in our daily routines and the stresses of business deadlines, but, remember that there is no extension for this one.

The SARS website states that they have extend their hours of operation at all branch offices to accommodate queues of taxpayers at service centres across the country. Most SARS taxpayer service centres at branch offices will be open from 7am to 6pm. Effectively, at most offices, this will allow for an extra 3 hours per day during which taxpayers can receive free assistance from SARS with completing their returns or for any other tax queries. In addition to the extended office hours, SARS will also have service desks and officials available in the big economic centres of the country to assist with the overflow of taxpayer numbers and alleviate the pressure of queues at branch offices until 31 October 2007.

So, get your tax returns task high on that priority list to prevent getting an unwanted fine (and that won't be for speeding).
